Free 20 Minute Consultation – Required for new clients

Materia Medica offers free 20 minute consultations to new and potential clients. You can choose to do this by phone or in person. In this way, we can have some idea of your Ayurvedic prakrti which will form the basis of on-going Ayurvedic consultation, yoga practice, or holistic massage.Schedule

Ayurvedic Consultations:

Initial Ayurvedic consultations are split over the course of two appointments. The first part lasts from 2 to 3 hours and includes a comprehensive health, diet, lifestyle, and physical examination. In this timeframe Ayurvedic prakrti (physical, mental, and spiritual constitution) is determined, as well as existing vikrti (energetic imbalances in mind, body, and spirit). The second part is a 1 hour report of findings and is included in the cost.

Ayurvedic Follow-Up Appointments:

Follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed to inspire clients as they make the transformative journey towards an Ayurvedic lifestyle as well as to monitor existing imbalances and evolve the care plan.
Cost: $100Schedule

Yoga Instruction:

Yoga as taught in the tradition of BKS Iyengar is offered in 1 hour increments at Materia Medica or in your home.
Cost: $100 per hour including travel time.Schedule

Holistic Massage:

The following massage modalities are available in your home or at Materia Medica:

  • Swedish Massage: A softer, relaxing style.
  • Deep Tissue Massage: Useful for athletes, those resolving injuries, and others who need or want to work into deeper muscle layers.
  • Prenatal Massage: Relaxing massage for expecting mothers; can be combined with yoga instruction to help maintain proper body alignment during pregnancy.
  • Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy: Working not only with muscles but also with joints to create space in the body and encourage proper alignment.
  • Ayurvedic Massage: Employs herbal oils and modalities specific to Ayurvedic prakrti.

Cost: $100 per hour including travel time.Schedule

Herbal Formulas:

Herbal formulas can be capsulized upon request.
Cost: $100 per hour for time and materials.


Materia Medica is also able to arrange events such as spa parties and home pantry evaluations upon request.
